About the Client

24,000 Members from 8 Specialized Divisions

The AeCS is the umbrella organization for general aviation focusing on light aviation and air sports. It has around 24,000 members and is divided into eight specialized divisions (powered flight, gliding, ballooning, model flight, helicopters, skydiving, microlight, and amateur aircraft construction) and 35 regional associations.

As the umbrella organization for general aviation, AeCS promotes and supports air sports. It exercises sporting authority in all areas of air sports in Switzerland on behalf of the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) and is also a member of Swiss Olympic.

Challenge

New Spaces – New Possibilities

After nearly 50 years at the location in the well-known Swiss Museum of Transport, the premises reached their limits in terms of space and current ergonomic standards.

Thus, the team led by Secretary-General Yves Burkhardt set out to find a suitable new location for the central secretariat. Originally, a move within the Museum of Transport was planned, but they were not really happy with the available options.

Challenge

A Partner for Complete Furnishing

Thus, they began looking for premises outside as well and found what they were looking for at Maihofstrasse 76 (in the CH Media building) and could look forward to new, bright office spaces.

What was still missing: A partner for complete furnishing who could deliver within the set budget and by the desired time.

Solution

Optimized Implementation with a Personal Touch

Due to a lack of resources at the Aero Club, the project management was handed over to Monika Steiner. During the search for a competent partner, contact was made with our workplace expert Urs Hildbrand. Ms. Steiner already had clear ideas regarding the spatial concept when she approached Schäfer Shop's consultant.

During the collaboration, adjustments could be made, and individual elements, such as the now superfluous reception desk, were removed from the order and further optimizations were carried out.

Solution

Preferred Shade of Blue for Everyone

As a personal touch, each employee was allowed to choose their preferred shade of blue for the office wall. The design of the workspaces was rounded off with fantastic photos from Aero-Club's own image archive.
